Is collaboration the new competition?

“Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.” – Henry Ford

Someone recently said that collaboration is the new competition. Do you agree?

When two or more great minds come together, extraordinary things can happen. Consider the value you can offer by working with another business instead of competing? Teamwork makes the dreamwork? You can make a much bigger impact collaborating with another business versus doing it all on your own. You get the opportunity to learn from other people's successes and failures so that your business can grow. And you get to network not only with like minded people but with people in your industry thereby widening your business circle.

We found a great article on how powerful collaboration is for small businesses, for the following reasons:

  1. Collaboration will inspire you

  2. Collaboration helps grow your network

  3. Collaboration is educational

  4. Collaboration can help save you money

  5. Collaboration solves problems

If we reflect on the past few months, all of our wins have been as a result of collaborative efforts. With sales being our biggest challenge, we have been trying to find ways of reaching out and connecting with people. So we joined Cape Chamber Chamber of Commerce and what a win that has been. We have started attending some in-person events (yay!) and have met the loveliest people. Everyone we have engaged with is in the same space as us - mostly small business owners keen to find ways to work together and to grow our businesses.

A few pics here from the Cape Chamber, Networking lunch at the beautiful Somerbosch Wine Farm - aptly named since it is between Somerset West and Stellenbosch. So exciting to meet new people and to hand out business cards :).

And what would our blog posts be without us sharing some pics of us out and about in the fairest Cape. Spring has sprung so we took advantage, as we do, to see the flowers, and combined that with a one nighter in the beautiful Yzerfontein.

Walks on the beach, walks amongst the flowers, walks in local wine farms - we were blessed to experience it all. And of course, all under the guise of strategy sessions.
